"Design to Statamic 6 in 40(ish) minutes" at PHPxMEL
Looking for Statamic 5? Got you covered with "Design to Statamic 5 in 40 minutes"
Taking over Australia one meetup at a time, it was Melbourne’s turn for a full Statamic takeover - and with Statamic 6 on the radar, and the great reception from “Design to Statamic 5 in 40 minutes”, thought it’d be great to show off some of the new features in Statamic 6.
Unfortunately, on the day in Melbourne, I had some issues with the recording, so the video is a re-record of the talk from my office.
With this talk, I take the same “Leaf” design in Figma for my awesome Leaf company, and get it built in Statamic 6 (alpha) from scratch.
Like the Statamic 5 version, this talk goes through the initial setup, translating a design to the terminology in the Statamic world, and then getting set up with neat file structure, setting up Globals, Navigation, Blueprints, Fieldsets, Assets, and of course content authoring with it all.
One of the biggest changes that I love are the Blade-like components for Tags - like the Partial tag. Great for code readability, and for PhpStorm users, syntax highlighting.
